MELANIE v0.5(beta) for Windows

1. Download melanie.0.5.zip
2. Extract setup.exe
3. Install MELANIE v0.5b
4. Run it !

This version includes :

• Application redesigned
• Dynamic link to the Maya Documentation

Important note :

This release is only a beta version and it is not really usable at this stage. It only shows you the direction I took to start a new and more efficient development.

This version doesn't include the MEL Script Editor, it's going to be fully rewritten. All flags are handled, for the available controls, in the generation of the script but they don't interact with the UI editor area.

I've planned to release the next version at the end of the month, probably on 30th May 2006. I won't include the MEL script editor for the moment, I need to rewrite it and I want it better than ever I've added a dynamic link to the Maya Docs in the application, so you can get all the details about controls and flags, with 1 click in the toolbox, hierarchy or flags area.

I'm also working, and thinking about a cross-platform version. My researchs are turned to : XUL, Javascript, XML and so on ... Maybe it would be a nice solution for a full cross-platform compatibilty, but I still need more information on how to resize controls dynamically in javascript. I didn't find the solution yet. If you have some clues, please feel free to tell me It means that MELANIE cross platform version would be opensource, dunno if it's good or not but as it's free, why not ! To be continued ...

After 2 years of silence, I come back to the development of MELANIE ! And to be closer to all users I decided to open this blog. I hope you will find it useful and you will be able to interact directly with me to bring our tool to the v 1.0 with success !

Note : in the next release (version 0.5), you will find lot of changes. I must tell you that I redesigned the whole software with a new look. That explains the low development status.

Post here all the bugs you found using MELANIE. Please provide some information in your post, it will help me to reproduce and fix the bug :

• Version : MELANIE version
• Description : a description of the bug, and the steps to reproduce it
• Configuration : your system configuration (Windows version, memory ...)

• New control added : rowLayout (not yet functional)
• New module added : Icon Editor (can't save for the moment)
• Interaction with some additional flags (but all flags are still not working)
• Optimization of the MEL Editor (faster than previous versions)
• Some bug fixes
